Twenty and Six Expresso

Having a four hour break at VCA means we get to spend our lunches at nice places like this one. Twenty and Six Expresso does not disappoint if you are looking for something yummy to eat.

Tucked away in a very secluded area on Queensberry street, you would not miss this baby because of the long line of people waiting outside to be fed.

Elephants are cool!

Twenty and Six unfortunately is a small space, so be warned, you may not always find a seat at peak food hour!

As the norm of Mealor and Sam, customary caps and lattes come our way in a snap. They look as lovely as they taste, we might add.

Our coffees went in as quick as they came and we ordered another round. This time, their chai.

Not the best. Awks.

We had the Hunter, which is their best seller on their menu. "Balsamic roasted Portobello mushrooms, spicy Spanish chorizo, sourdough, creme fraiche and black truffle oil.  ($16.90)  ".  It is a spectacularly displayed meal and makes you think that you are eating something created off from MasterChef.  It's awesome, and reasonably priced, yeww!!

Photos are proof.

Extra $2.50 for an avo

The first thing you notice when these bad boys come out is the smell of mushrooms and truffle oil. It still amazes us to this day how awesome it smelt the second it arrived at our table. Holy shit. I can't even..

Definitely a favourite of ours.

Our thoughts: 8/10

Alimentari, Brunswick Street

We were planning to check out the Blackbird and Rose Street Markets this afternoon on Brunswick Street, and decided to get brunch along the way. We happened to stumble upon the lovely Alimetari for a delicious meal.

We were welcomed by an array of delicious foods. A display of meats, cold cuts, pastas, sandwiches and cheeses which you can purchase at the front of the cafe.

There was nothing over $20 on the menu, which is brilliant for broke students such as ourselves.

We started off with our customary cap and lattes which were delivered promptly. :) Nothing too spectacular, but a coffee is a coffee.

The environment of Alimetari was pretty darn trendy. As you come in, you are deceived by what is thought to be quite a small little cafe, until you walk down past the deli area and you are greeted by an abundance of space. It's decorated tastefully with bottles of sauces, cans of fruit and whatnot, and the seating is comfortable beyond measures. It also wasn't too busy, that you could easily have a conversation with the person next you.

The food wasn't the best we've had, but it was pretty damn close. We had the:

Poached eggs on top of a bed of blanched spinach, bacon and a warm hash brown. Topped off with a spoonful of hollandaise sauce and you're good to go. Just perfect.

Your average French Toast spruced up with a poached pear, vanilla creme fraiche, and toasted almonds to top it off.

Not a bad place for brunch. Would definitely come back for more.

Our thoughts: 6/10
